The Health Challenge Valleys InitiativeThe overall aim of the Health Challenge Valleys initiative is to maximise health gain across the Heads of the Valleys area through better coordination. ![]() This site is intended for those professionals, agencies and individuals working at a community level, in roles that can impact on health and well being. The World Health Organisation (WHO) regard health as a fundamental human right – and all people should have access to basic resources for health. The WHO (1986) Ottawa Charter emphasised certain prerequisites for health which include peace, adequate economic resources, food and shelter and a stable ecosystem and sustainable resource use. This highlights the inextricable links between social and economic conditions, the physical environment, individual lifestyles and health which is reflected in the Heads of the Valleys Strategic Programme. The website will aim to highlight the contribution that professions and agencies - not traditionally regarded as health improving agencies, can make to health and well being. If you are a member of the public and you are looking for information, or advice on how you can improve your own, or your families health and well-being, then please use one of the following links; Health Challenge Wales; Health Challenge Caerphilly; Health Challenge Blaenau Gwent; Brighter Merthyr Tydfil; Health Challenge Torfaen; or Health Challenge Rhondda Cynon Taf (Some of these sites have yet to be developed. Once they are live then the links will be activated). |
